The new year also brings a new product with the launch of the VITA 66, a standard for optical backplane interconnects in the VPX (VITA 46) ecosystem.
This connector is designed to be particularly rugged and reliable, to withstand the challenges of harsh environments.
Moreover, its scalability allows it to support a wide range of optical connector types and configurations, thus meeting the needs of various applications.
Now let’s consider 66.1 and 66.4 versions of this connector as they have a particularity. Indeed, they are designed integrating the PRIZM® MT ferrule from US Conec, which is provided with expanded beam technology.
MT ferrules integration in these connectors allows a high optical fiber density, because each MT ferrule can support up to 24 optical channels.
How does it work ?
Each ferrule end is fitted with a lens. The first lens expands the signal, and the second one re-collimates it.
There are numerous advantages.
One significant benefit is increased durability. The connector parts do not contact each other, reducing mechanical stress from mating cycles.
Additionally, This design simplifies cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.
